Saturday night after having dinner with friends, we finally had the top of our wedding cake! It is tradition for couples to freeze the top of your wedding cake and then eat it for your first wedding anniversary. I did a little research to see what the meaning of this was or how this tradition began. Apparently the point of this tradition is so that couples can enjoy and relive one of your most special moments. Thankfully our bakery gave us very detailed and specific instructions on how to freeze the top of the cake, because it was actually pretty good! I was expecting the cake to be distasteful and I was just into the whole thing for the fun of it but surprisingly it tasted well! It didn't taste like freezer, and you could actually taste the flavors of the almond cake with raspberry filling. The only problem with the cake is that it was slightly lopsided. Don't mind the poor quality in photos, we hadn't planned on having our cake that night so I wasn't prepared with a proper setting. The lighting in our apartment is absolutely terrible without natural sunlight!
